PHILOSOPHY

One warm light is enough.

We work in the tradition of tenebrism — the painting style of Caravaggio, La Tour, and Rembrandt. The canvas is mostly in shadow. A single warm light defines the subject. Everything else recedes.

This is not metaphor. It's the operating principle of the studio. Every photograph, every web layout, every proposal — made in shadow, illuminated by one considered light.

Tenebra is a studio of one. I run Sigma for Elevators by day — a 24-person company in Alexandria — and I run Tenebra by considered hours.

Why a studio of one? Because the alternative — a billable-hour agency — produces fast, generic work. Tenebra is the opposite: slow enough to think, small enough to care, premium enough to be worth waiting for.
